Description
High school is a pretty important period in everyone’s life, especially if you want to learn how to handle yourself in various social situations. On the other hand, you can also take it lightly and try to have as much fun as possible, because there’s plenty of time to learn how you are and how to behave. Hence, children have a pretty sweet deal, especially since most of their time is spent improving themselves.
A variety of characters and any possible endings
SUDOKI is a visual novel game inspired by Zero Time Dilemma in which you have the freedom to choose between three protagonists and control their actions in order to influence the story as you desire. As you might have guessed, the action takes place in a high school, which means that the drama you experience is pretty childish, although that’s the whole point of a game such as this one.
In essence, romance is the main ingredient of the story, because every character you choose can hook up with someone if you play your cards right. In fact, there are multiple possibilities in this regard, which is why it’s recommended that you play the game more than once. According to the developer, there are over forty possible endings, which is more than enough to keep you busy for a long time.
Simple artwork and slow-paced action
Probably the most frustrating part about SUDOKI is the fact that everything moves very slowly, at least plot-wise. It takes ages until something exciting happens, not to mention the fact that you have to take it from the top if you want to make a different decision. On the other hand, you can get past this annoyance by letting some time pass between each playthrough, depending on how eager you are about the idea.
As for the graphics, the artwork is actually pretty rudimentary, but then again most of it is designed by other people from Tumblr. Hence, there are even some different styles mixed together, which is not exactly pretty. Even so, the overall atmosphere is pretty homogenous, especially if you are a fan of anime and the Zero Time Dilemma series.
The power of choice taken to the extreme
All things considered, the freedom provided by SUDOKI can be overwhelming, especially if you are not in the mood for so many choices. On the other hand, there’s nothing better than to always have another crack at a game and experience a different outcome.
