Description
There are not too many ways to make a zombie flick feel innovative today, especially not when there are ten of them coming out every month. However, survival games can always be fun if they are designed to be challenging over long periods of time, especially if your character gets stronger as you manage to survive longer and gain special abilities along the way.
Shoot zombies and stay alive
Rise Of The Zombies 2 does not even try to revolutionize the genre in any way, since it’s a basic first-person shooter with straightforward mechanics and no story to talk about. Instead, you can only blast your way through hordes of mindless zombies and try to keep doing it for as long as possible in order to increase your score and have something to brag about.
You start with a simple pistol to use against the undead, but it’s obviously not powerful enough to handle too many enemies at once. Thankfully, there’s a shotgun right next to where you spawn, so the pistol is a bit irrelevant, unless you happen to run out of ammo. In fact, there is a rifle in the game as well, so you should have everything you need to stay alive.
Poor graphics and simple controls
One of the worst things about the game is the AI, because the zombies are nothing but 3D models programmed to run toward you with total disregard for their own safety. Every now and again robots make an appearance as well for some reason, but there’s not need to wonder about that anyway. The map is fairly repetitive and dull as well, which leaves you very few reasons to play for more than a few minutes.
Not much can be said about the graphics either, since they are as simple as they can get under the circumstances. Hence, the zombies all look the same, and the texture resolution is very low, even for a wannabe retro game. As mentioned before, the map is not engaging at all, mainly because it looks the same no matter where you go.
A simple distraction for when you have nothing better to do
In the end, the constant shooting might keep you busy for a while, but Rise Of The Zombies 2 is definitely not the kind of game you come back to after you try it once. Hence, it lacks too many elements to be enjoyable for more than a few minutes.
