Refunktion

Refunktion is a first-person platformer that comes with a really good challenge if you’re up for one. Think of it as a speedrun in which your life depends on every jump and step you make.

A game that’s built to test your patience

The goal of the game is relatively simple. There is a number of orange pads which you must activate in order to be able to transport a series of cubes into a special container. Once you gather all of them, you will be able to advance to the door that leads to the next level.
First thing’s first, you need to locate each of the pads and cubes and secondly, figure out the path you need to take to get to all of them. The environment around you is designed to be traversed as if you were a digital parkour athlete so you really need to plot a course before you can actually accomplish anything.
Since that doesn’t really sound like something complicated to do, you’ll be pleased to know that there is a large number of robot drones patrolling the entire level and if they have you in their field of vision for more than 2 seconds, you’ll know how lasers taste.

Wonderful level design

Refunktion uses Unreal Engine 4 so you know the game looks great and performs just as well. The world around you is designed with taste towards minimalism which makes it quite elegant for a game.
You will be able to perform wall-jumps, slide under railing and into small tunnels, climb and strafe, everything you need to move quickly and hopefully with stealth. The biggest challenge in the game will be to figure your how you can use the patrolling patterns of the drones to your advantage, simply running around won’t do.

Great exercise for those who love a challenge

To wrap it up, Refunktion is above average in design and offers its players a well devised challenge that is sure to keep them busy for a good couple of hours.
