Description

Pequod, in case that doesn’t give way to what the game is about, it’s about a whale, Mobias that fights a swarm of ships that are out to kill it. And yes, at the end you fight the obsessed Ahab and his grand ship.

Playing as a deadly whale is fun

Pequod is a 2D pixelart roguelike with a dolphin-acting whale as a protagonist. The goal, jump out of the water and smash the enemy ships until they sink. Pequod will be a satisfying game to play because we all love seeing things get smashed and since here it’s a bit of a challenge, you get the best of both worlds.
Submerged in a retro arcade soundtrack that fits perfectly with the theme of the game, you’ll have a relaxing time sinking a wide range of ships. The game features procedurally generated content which means that not two levels will be the same, and you also get quite the interesting range of ship designs.
What’s more, most of them are equipped with a variety of weapons that make the ships hard to sink at times. You may be a god of the oceans, but you can still die. So, taking your time and timing attacks is key.

Upgrade your God whale with awesome powers

Get a narly narwhal tusk or the ability to shoot epic beams that burn ships, there are plenty of upgrades to come across. Since content is procedurally generated, the drops are just the same. You never know what you’re going to come across or what it actually does.
One time you can get a speed upgrade, at times you can pick up some crazy pills and why not visit the local deep sea shop to see what’s new. The game, although severely repetitive in gameplay manages to keep you playing for a while thanks to the curiosity of wanting to see what other ships you can fight and what unusual weapons you can find for the whale.

It’s good, the indie kind

To end, Pequod is a nice game if you’re into indie titles that are built to offer a casual time. It’s easy to play, intense at times and with procedural gameplay it has enough content to keep you at it for a while.
