Description
Not Everything is Flammable, but most stuff is so with that in mind, get ready to set fire to a whole lot of stuff in a 2D world. ‘Not Everything is Flammable’ is a horizontal platformer in which you will be using a chain reaction mechanism to make your way through a variety of environments, setting things ablaze for a simple and selfish reason, to get the highest score.
A lightweight arson simulator for telekinesis experts that live in the digital world
Not Everything is Flammable is basically a horizontal platformer in which the ‘main character’ has a very short lifespan and needs to be constantly replaced with another.
The concept is simple and effective. You start off with an object that’s on fire and you have to roll it around in order to set fire to another object by touching it. After contact is made, you get to control the newly lit object and before the flame runs out, you need to find another and so on.
You can also jump with the item that’s under your control but if you do, the flames run out faster. It’s a neat little feature since it forces you to move faster but it’s also punishing because if you don’t get a jump just right, you’ll run out of juice and have to restart the game.
It’s designed to look simple but it’s built to set your platformer skills on fire
Patience is a virtue and practice makes perfect are two things that really count in Not Everything is Flammable. It’s a moderate to tough game that relies on skill and that’s great because it’s quite rare that you get to play something that’s purely created to be fun and engaging.
A great thing about it is that the world you go through is randomly populated with objects that can catch fire. You never get the same arrangement twice so beating the game through memorization is out of the question.
Simplicity in game concept and design that’s exemplary
To wrap it up, if you’re into minimalistic game design and well implemented game mechanics that make for a totally enjoyable product, by all means, try Not Everything is Flammable. Trust me, it’s much more interesting and dynamic than it looks in the screenshots.
