Description
Getting to space is still a huge investment at the moment, even if we do it regularly in the case of commercial satellites and the occasional astronaut shift change at the ISS. However, things can be pretty dangerous even today, despite our five decades of experience in the field. When so many things have to work perfectly in unison, it’s no wonder that sometimes things go pretty wrong.
Help two astronauts escape from the Moon
Moon Walk Quest is a point & click adventure game in which you have to solve puzzles by exploring the map and finding the required objects to fix your spaceship. Unfortunately, the English used in the dialog is very broken and simple, making the story feel even cheaper than it already is. Moreover, the puzzles are very simple and uneventful as well.
To begin with, the story starts with two Soviet astronauts trying to get back on Earth when their spaceship unexpectedly breaks down. Naturally, it would appear that one of the components went dead, so they need to find a replacement on the Moon. Against all the odds, there are plenty of ways to get the exact component needed, so it’s a bit anti-climactic to say the least.
Use items to keep the story going
The gameplay is as basic as it gets, since the only thing you need to do is search the environment for objects that come in handy. Since the story is very linear and straightforward, most of the time you just have to find a particular item and move on, which gets old fairly quickly. On top of that, the environments are repetitive as well, making it difficult to stay excited about the adventure.
As for the graphics, they are mostly hand-drawn environments and very basic animations, although this is not generally a problem in the genre, as long as the gameplay is strong and the puzzles are worthwhile. Since this is not the case, the graphics become a lot more obvious, and so do the generic sound effects in the background.
A simple puzzle game for casual players
In the end, Moon Walk Quest is a bit too simple and basic to please regular adventure players, but it might be just right for total beginners looking for something easy to play. On the other hand, the awful story might be a bit too cheesy eve for them.
