In short, modern people like to be lead astray and fooled by trickery, which is true for books, movies or video games. As such, you shouldn’t be surprised at anything anymore, even if it’s a fluffy bunny invasion.

A textbook hero tries to fend off a furry apocalypse

Mayhem Triple is a 2D platformer with fast-paced gameplay mechanics and all the humor you can handle cramped into every orifice. Starting with the hilarious plot and the main character, all the way to the dialog and the actual gameplay, everything is designed to steal a smile from you. Thankfully, the gimmick works, which means that you should be in a good mood from start to finish.
As previously mentioned, the storyline is not exactly serious, unless you are the type that takes bunny apocalypses seriously. The main character is your typical tough guy capable of handling two sawed-off shotguns like a pair of purring kittens, which means that you are in good hands. Your main purpose is to run and gun every enemy down on your way, although there are many mini-games and boss fights as well.

Gorgeous retro graphics and a variety of weapons to choose from

From time to time, you reach a vendor that allows you to use the money gained along the way in order to purchase new equipment for your character. Hence, besides the usual health upgrades and various other accessories, a wide range of weapons is available as well. Some of them are sensible choices, such as the automatic shotgun and the rifle, while others are designed for madmen, as is the case with the Brutalizer.
Even if the graphics are in two dimensions and the pixel size is not what you would expect from a modern video game, that doesn’t mean you cannot admire the artwork. In fact, the level design and the unit animations are gorgeous, with the added benefit of bringing back a few pleasant memories from the past. The music is good too, especially the tracks that get the adrenaline flowing.

In the end, Mayhem Triple is the kind of game that can keep you busy for longer than you would be comfortable admitting, due to the fact that the difficulty level is a tad unforgiving sometimes. On the other hand, the challenge is what keeps you trying again and again, because it’s always a blast and the levels don’t actually get that repetitive.
