Competitions such as Lundum Dare are great for a bunch of reasons. One of them is that you get to see what some game developers can pull off in just 48 hours and in a lot of cases, it’s really impressive stuff. One example is this little gem right here, and its name is Lucid.

A classic platformer that’s very classy

Lucid rocks the classic platformer look better than games with months of work behind them. It’s a treat to look at if you’re into the old-school vibe or if you simply love retro games. Every pixel in this game is well placed and contributes to a wonderful general design.
The audio is excellent as well. From the jump sound to the attack effect and tracks, Lucid manages to create an immersive atmosphere with its almost 4MBs of content. It really is surprising to see how good things sound, especially when you kill an enemy.

Well polished gameplay that lets you enjoy the entire experience

There are no compromises with Lucid. Apart from the flawless audio, the gameplay is nearly perfect when it comes to polishing. Everything works, and it works as it should. There’s really nothing you can object to when playing this game, except maybe for the fairly low level of difficulty.
Taking the latter into focus, Lucid is not a tough game to finish but finding that last egg will be tough. It’s not a walk in the park either but halfway through the game, you might just wish that it would be a bit harder, that there was more depth to it.

Something to help you wash away the dust of a bad day

Lucid is a great choice if you’re looking for something to take your mind off some troubles for a short while. It’s calming, relaxing to play and immersive, exactly what you would expect from a lightweight game.
