Description
Hybrid games bring various gameplays together and allow you to enjoy the best of both worlds. Freehunter is a part flight simulator and part first-person shooter that puts you in the shoes of a bounty hunter that must earn a living.
Hunt down various enemies and complete missions
The story of the game is pretty sketchy. You are a bounty hunter at the helm of a jet fighter on an unknown planet. You have multiple waypoints on your radar, all representing missions. You must reach those positions and earn credits.
The gameplay is diversified. Since you can control a jet fighter and engage in ground shoot-outs, there are separate controls for each mode. The most striking feature of the flight simulator is the fact you cannot control the jet fighter via mouse. It is pretty difficult to control it only with keyboard buttons. Nonetheless, the controls are sharp, and you will eventually get the hang of it.
Earn credits and survive on a pirate-filled island
The game does not offer difficulty settings and enemies are not color-coded to help you determine their level. Various enemies will test your skills in different manners. You must land the aircraft and shoot creatures too small to target from the air, or you can engage pirate shuttles that plague defenseless transports. Each time you complete a mission, you earn credits; if you crash the ship or get heavily damaged, you lose, and you must restart the session.
The graphics department does not impress. The game requires average graphics cards to display correctly, but you do not see how those resources are used. The textures are pixelated, a lot of elements are recycled and the animations are basic.
A hybrid FPS – flight simulator that does not impress
In conclusion, Freehunter is a unique game, but not in a good way. You can perform various missions under different conditions. You can shoot a gun and fly a futuristic jet fighter, all in the same game. However, you will have a tough time mastering the controls and the graphics will prevent you from enjoying a good gaming session.
