Description
Elarel is a logic puzzle game that uses a gameplay similar to that of Supaplex, or rather Boulder Dash and adds a good deal of extra traps and elements that complicate things for the better. It comes with a simple 2D approach and puzzles that range from very simple to downright brain breaking.
Nevermind the looks of it all, enjoy the puzzles
From a visual point of view, Elarel is rather basic, and that might be the only major setback it has because the puzzles are really good. It features a simple design with basic to rudimentary graphics that don’t give it much appeal but puzzle game fans know that looks aren’t a requirement for this genre.
The game offers over twenty levels that get tougher and tougher, which is a good sign for a puzzle game. Moreover, if you’re willing to give it a go, Elarel provides a level editor that you can use to put your puzzle making skills to the test.
Visualise solutions before you start applying them
If you’ve played Boulder Dash or Supaplex before, you know that you need to think things through before you do something. One bad step and you will close yourself off in the maze or trigger a trap that kills you.
To complete a level in Elarel you have to visualise the moves you make like in chess. More so, apart from the boulders that can fall on your head, Elarel features a bunch of other traps and tiles that have complicating effects.
A game for the puzzle fans
To wrap it up, Elarel is a good game. It, unfortunately, uses basic graphics, but if that alone were to change, it would be an excellent puzzle game.
