Description
Clonk Rage is a game that blends several genres into one, creating a complex title with loads of depth to it. It’s a rather odd game that has retained its original look from way back, but it’s an interesting game none the less.
A game with tons of stuff to do in it
In the game, you get to control a number of little humanoids called Clonks, and you must use them to complete a wide number of missions and challenges. The game can be played in both singleplayer and multiplayer modes, with emphasis being put on the latter because it’s a lot more fun when up to six people battle each other on a small map using all kinds of weapons and contraptions. Clonk Rage was created with the intent of offering you a new addiction thanks to the wide variety of content. Apart from the default theme, the game offered several others meant to diversify things a bit, to experiment with different mechanics and gameplay. For this, it provides several extensions, Knights, Hazard, Far worlds, Golems, all of which are built into Clonk Rage.
It’s old, still playable, but buggy at times
Clonk Rage comes with a large and detailed voice-narrated tutorial that makes understanding the game a lot faster than you would normally expect. The downside, it’s from the initial stages that you experience some of the bugs that Clonk Rage comes with.
For example, double-tapping a key will issue a commands to the little Clonk, but at times, it just won’t work. Other times, the controls feel messed up. Combine that with the outdated graphics and you get a game that loses charm when it doesn’t work as it should.
Nice, but not great
To end, Clonk Rage is, or rather was, a nice game to have. It features a lot of content and the multiplayer feature certainly comes in handy, but it feels left behind on a lot of things.
