Description
Arcade racing games are designed with fun in mind, because they have to provide you with something in exchange for the lack of realistic physics. While some settle on tuning and nitro boosters that allow you to reach incredible speeds, others change the goal of the race to destroying the opponents instead of overtaking them, which can be tons of fun under the right conditions.
Equip your vehicle with weapons and survive the race to the finish line
Turbonika is a fast-paced racing game in which the goal is to make it to the end of each race by avoiding the obstacles, dodging the other cars, or simply shooting them if there’s no way around them. The mechanics are not as polished as they could be, but you can still have plenty of fun with them under the right circumstances, depending on whether you can turn a blind eye to some annoyances.
To begin with, each level has a certain time limit you must respect, otherwise you have to restart the whole thing and try again. This can be a bit of a bother in the beginning, because your vehicle only moves quickly enough to reach the finish line at the last moment. Thus, every hang up along the way results in a game over, which can cause quite a bit of frustration.
Purchase upgrades from the store with your hard-earned cash
It’s worth noting that you receive cash as long as you manage to destroy the other vehicles, even if you do not get to the finish line. This cash can then be used to purchase better parts for your car, such as more powerful engines, more damage for your cannons, or even a saw that chops every vehicle in front of you. Hence, there’s always something to buy with your money, although the upgrades cost more and more as you advance.
Lastly, the graphics are nothing out of the ordinary either, and in fact they can be considered rather poor. The most annoying part is that the levels are mostly the same, except for the traps that make an appearance every now and again, which get more complex later on. On the other hand, the action is exciting enough to distract you from the poor graphics most of the time.
Plenty of action to keep you busy for a while
In the end, Turbonika may not be the best-looking racing game out there, nor the most complex, but it has enough action and variety to keep your mind busy for a while. In addition, the constant upgrade possibilities make you want to go another round to get enough money.
