Description
[The] Green Lake is a horror exploration game with survival elements where your objective will be to find mysterious data boxes in a very dangerous forest.
Help a scientist collect the mysterious data boxes scattered around forest
Inspired by Slender and all those unofficial remakes that were released over the last years, The Green Lake places the action inside a spooky forest at night. Players will take on the role of a scientist sent by the government to collect some mysterious data boxes from a forest.
The cabin you're in contains a brief tutorial on how to move, run, turn on the flashlight and how to collect the data boxes. While outside it's almost imperative you turn on the flashlight as the visibility is quite low, and will get even lower in some areas of the map.
The data boxes are of an average size and collecting them will have no effect over your movement. They can be found inside abandoned buildings, on the rooftops, in the middle of the forest or by a fence, all you need to do is keep on looking.
Beware of the evil monsters that lurk in the night
While strolling through the dark forest, you will meet some monstrous creatures that are just waiting to take your life. Some of them will follow and kill you, if given the chance, while others will just stay in one place or move in a circular pattern.
The game feature no saving mechanism so if you die, it's game over, it doesn't matter that you've just collected nine out of the ten boxes and you have only one to go you must restart from the beginning. As one might imagine this tends to get frustrating.
Exploring a dark forest at night can turn out to be quite scary
The best thing about the game is that is free. The horror part is quite nicely done with spooky looking trees, sinister sounds and spine-chilling music so if you want to be scared and explore a huge forest at night, this is the game for you.
