Description
Add a color matching feature to Tetris and you get Tetrabreak. It’s a casual arcade game that uses two very simple gameplay aspects but when combined, they create something very challenging.
Test your focus and coordination
In Tetrabreak, you get the same layout as in Tetris. There are the well-known tetriminos with their distinct shapes, but they are composed out of squares with different colors. The goal of the game is not to match the large pieces themselves, but to make sure you form clusters of four or more squares of the same color.
Tetris was hard enough to play when the speed of the tetriminos picked up but playing in this manner is even more so. All the blocks are randomly created, and you’ll have to figure out the best destination for them on the run.
The good side is that the tetriminos break when they hit the pile so you won’t have to worry about the chaos that could emerge if the pieces didn’t fit.
Something to play
Tetrabreak is kind of neat in concept and given its nature, it doesn’t look half bad. You can’t expect anything spectacular from it, after all, it’s a Flash game.
On the good side of things, its gameplay is easy to pick up and kind of hard to master. It really takes a toll on your ability to focus and expecting the pieces to align by accident and start a chain reaction is something you shouldn’t rely on. It rarely happens.
It’s nice, but just that
All in all, Tetrabreak is a basic Flash powered game that features simple gameplay that complicates itself as you lose control of how the pieces are stacked. It’s a decent thing to play when you have some spare time to kill.
