There are horror games that scare you in a straightforward way using visual and audio cues, as well as those that give you chills by exploring a creepy place but the best ones are those that combine and refine the two.
Such is the case of Seek, a first-person survival horror game that not only looks great, but does a fantastic job of putting you in the center of an eerie story right from the beginning.

Stay into the light to keep your sanity

The game starts with you, Damien, who receives a letter from your wife who kindly asks you to return home as she feeling unwell and your daughter misses you very much. At first you make your way through a near pitch black forest with only a few torches to guide you, enter and traverse an even darker cave and unexpectedly, reach what looks to be like paradise.
Seek truly shines when it comes to visuals, ambient lighting is splendid and the entire world around you looks like someone spent a good amount of time on every square meter. It’s this attention to detail and high quality design that allows you to easily submerge yourself into the story and environment that surrounds you.
Initially Seek starts off silent and remains so for a while. As you make your way through forests, caves and houses, apart from wind blowing through branches, water droplets falling on rocks, you start to hear all kinds of sounds which seem unnatural, making you unsure if they are real or products of your imagination.

Find clues and interact with your environment

As far as gameplay goes, Seek is similar to other titles from this genre and seems to implement the good stuff which makes it even more appealing. Objects around you can be moved, allowing you to search for hidden clues that might help you make sense of what’s going on.
You can also pick up large boxes and throw them at a barricaded door to free your path, pickup logs to create bridges and much more.

A horror game you have to try

It’s not often you get to say that a horror game is beautiful but with Seek, that is an exception. Not only are the graphics way above what you’re used to seeing in an indie game, but it also manages to successfully transpose you into the main character’s world.
