Myst is a legendary adventure series that still has a cult following even today, despite the fact that it’s quite behind in terms of technology. However, the worlds and the stories it featured left a mark on the players, not to mention the excruciating puzzles that sometimes seemed impossible. Hence, it’s no wonder that many have tried to copy Myst’s formula over the years.

An alien world filled with strange machinery

Myha is inspired by Myst and it tries to present some of the same ideas, albeit in a different setting and with a new story entirely. However, the basic gameplay mechanics are the same, and it even features old pre-rendered graphics and a point-and-click movement system. Naturally, the system may disorient inexperienced players, but it’s not as difficult as it looks at first.
The game begins with a cinematic that provides you with an idea about what the story is all about. As it happens, a space agency named CSE from a planet named Terra receives a distress signal from their moon, which obviously prompts an investigation. However, the astronaut leading the expedition only finds a black cube at the location in question, which actually teleports him to a strange world somewhere in a different dimension.

Analyze clues and come up with solutions

While most puzzle games nowadays challenge you to find hidden objects and combine them in order to reach a solution, Myha is different. Just like in Myst, everything is right there, but you need to figure out what certain symbols mean, how various objects interact, and so on. In fact, you may need a pen and a piece of paper more often than not, otherwise you won’t be able to keep track of the clues.
As mentioned before, the game uses pre-rendered graphics, meaning that it doesn’t look as sharp as a modern production should. This is by design, on the other hand, and it should be a hit with veteran gamers. The cutscenes are actually quite well done, although you need to be prepared for some really crude animations and simple special effects.

A great brain teasers for puzzle lovers

While it’s true that Myha is not a game for everyone, it should certainly find a few followers, especially among those who loved the Myst series. Hence, if you are up for mind-boggling puzzles and a sci-fi story, this could very well make your afternoon.
