Description
Soccer is by far one of the most popular sports around the world, thanks to international competitions like the World Cup or Champions League. The players are paid a lot of money to perform at their peak during matches, and it’s all about putting on a show for the fans as well. However, talent and dedication have a lot to do with the sport too, especially when it comes to the top teams in the world.
Perform tricks and try to get a high score
Freestyle Soccer is not a very complicated game, and it barely has any content at all. In short, your task is to use a boot to keep a ball in the air, while also trying to perform the famous Around the World trick. Each time you are successful in performing it, you are rewarded with points, which count toward your final score. If this score is high enough, you can submit it over the Internet and take your place in the hall of fame.
The game’s simplicity is disarming, so it needs to be challenging in order to keep players interested for more than a few seconds. Thankfully, it is quite demanding, especially since the controls are not very responsive most of the time. Although you can use the mouse to move the boot around, it might sometimes happen that the cursor leaves the game window, which causes all sorts of trouble.
Decent physics simulation and basic Flash graphics
Realism is not the game’s priority, so you should not demand it either. However, the ball reacts quite convincingly to the kicks, which means that you might be able to use intuition to get familiar with the gameplay mechanics. On the other hand, the game ends once the ball gets out of the screen area, which is mighty frustrating in some cases.
Visually, the Flash-powered graphics are as cartoonish and basic as you would expect, but that shouldn’t matter too much. In essence, the game was created to provide you with a way to lose a couple of minutes every once in a while, and it can achieve that with ease. In fact, it can eat a lot more of your time if you plan on making it at the top of the high score list.
A fun experience for soccer enthusiasts
While it may get repetitive in the blink of an eye, Freestyle Soccer is still a pretty fun game, or at least a decent distraction. Thus, if you have no expectations from it and you do not mind the occasional frustration, this may very well prove to be an entertaining way to spend your spare breaks.
