The goal of the game is very simple. You have to run passed all the people you find wandering around the mall and flip the phones from their hands. The purpose of this inconvenient and rude action so to distract them from the devices so you can warn them about the imminent global danger.
Your character is a bit of a nutcase because even he doesn't know what the danger actually is. One time he’ll warn people about a leak in Internet Explorer, about all the single girls in your area or about Game of Thrones spoilers. Each time you start a new game he finds a new and equally hilarious reason to throw phones up in the air.

A game that’s as addictive as a smartphone

Looking a bit passed the fun and entertaining ridiculousness of the game, you can consider it a take on how much time people spend on their phones, slowly becoming oblivious to more important things that happen around. Ironically, the developers are aiming to create a mobile version of the game. Hopefully no lunatick will flip your phone at the mall while playing Flippin' Phones.
A great deal of the fun factor is derived from the fast-paced nature of the game. Your wacky arms-waving hero moves really fast and is abnormally strong. Phones, flower pots, hot-dog stands and whatever stands in his way easily gets thrown up in the air. Even the alert mall cops that want to stop you get slapped around like they're cardboard cutouts (they also explode mid air).
