Description
Although it doesn’t matter as much as teenagers think, high school is a pretty important part in everyone’s life, especially from a social point of view. Hence, people are shaped up in those four years, especially if they go through something particularly unpleasant. On the other hand, it can also be a wonderful time if you manage to make friends and keep in mind the fact that you can start over after you finish it.
An indie movie producer steals your heart
deIz is a visual novel that presents a pretty classic story, one that features an infatuated high school boy and a popular girl who doesn’t seem to notice him at all. However, things get a tad more exciting than that along the way, although you shouldn’t expect too much from the story either. In fact, the whole thing is pretty straightforward, but at least you can reach multiple endings.
As such, it all revolves around a high school boy with a crush on a pretty girl, who also happens to be an indie movie producer. He has made a ritual out of watching one of her short movies each morning, especially since he also contributed to the production of said movie. Naturally, the girl notices him again at one point, which is how the plot starts to branch and evolve.
Make choices and discover new endings
Every now and again you are presented with a choice that may or may not affect the ending you reach. Something as small as going for ice cream instead of just doing your homework can have noticeable effects, but it’s usually quite obvious when one of your choices is going to affect the outcome. Even so, it’s nice to know that you can replay the game multiple times and see how it goes when you make different choices.
As for the artwork and the character design, the game is actually quite a looker, but it must be mentioned that it was designed to run in a 640x480 resolution, which is quite poor. You can resize the window and get a bigger picture, but the drawings lose quality once they are artificially enlarged. On the other hand, graphics are not all that important in a visual novel.
Have fun replaying the experience multiple time
In the end, deIz is pretty well written, not to mention beautiful if you can stomach the low resolution. Moreover, it’s a godsend for those who enjoy playing the same story multiple time to obtain different results.
