Description
Mazes are intriguing whenever you are confronted with one, mainly because they require thinking ahead and a bit of trial & error. Dead ends and disorienting repetition make it difficult to keep track of your progress, which is why it’s so easy to just give up when things get too tough. On the other hand, there’s nothing like the feeling you get after you manage to solve a riddle.
Explore colorful mazes and collect the treasure
Danko Treasure Map is an arcade puzzle game in which you have to explore colorful worlds and make your way out of difficult mazes, while also getting all the treasure hidden throughout the corridors. However, it’s important to pay attention to the environment, because the paths become blocked if you do not think ahead and leave some room for escape.
The main character is a small yellow creature called a Runic, who is an avid treasure collector. In essence, your task is to help Danko get all the treasure and rescue other Runics while you’re at it. Each level poses a different challenge, and they get larger and more difficult as you manage to solve them. On the other hand, you also learn how to avoid certain mistakes.
A lot of trial & error required
One of the annoying things about the game is that sometimes you are forced to fail just to see what happens when you try a certain path. Although it’s somewhat possible to predict the chain effects caused by your passing, it usually takes way too much thinking for a tiny reward, so it can get very frustrating after a while. Naturally, it depends on how patient and calm you are.
As for the graphics, they are nothing to write home about, but the game is certainly colorful and decent looking. Each level is more or less the same when it comes to textures, but new challenges and objects appear along the way. On top of that, the layouts are different every time, so it doesn’t get overly repetitive, unless you count the fact that you are tackling the same task over and over again.
A neat puzzle game for maze lovers
In spite of the annoying mechanics, Danko Treasure Map can be a great distraction for maze lovers, because it’s certainly a challenge to solve some of the levels. However, the experience doesn’t feel all that rewarding for some reason.
