Description
A point and click game that looks like it was sketched in a few minutes and quickly put together might not strike you as being interesting. But you shouldn't be too quick to judge, especially since we’re talking about Bad Dream: Bridge, a little horror game in which you’ll cringe more than you expect.
The right kind of horror created through tension
Being a point and click puzzle game, Bad Dream: Bridge will have you exploring various rooms, hallways and other places using simple mouse interaction. You as a character won’t be visible and apart from the fact that you’re missing a couple of fingers, you don't really know who you are or what happened in the first place. Which means extra points for the mystery factor.
Once you start making your way through the rundown medical facility, you start to feel the eeriness of the place. First off, the audio is really good, the kind of good that you’d like to hear in a Silent Hill movie. Secondly, despite its cartoonish approach for graphics, Bad Dream: Bridge still manages to provide a series of rather disturbing images.
People cut in half waiting to go into the nurse’s office, a bandaged head just lying in a former torture chamber, a cafeteria that serves eyes and fish… it’s all there and it’s kind of creepy.
Puzzles that are solved with the use of your memory
In Bad Dream: Bridge things don’t really stay put. It’s the most important thing you need to keep an eye out for. People disappear and reappear, rooms become unlocked when you’re not looking and some items appear out of nowhere.
Keeping track of how each room looks is important and so is spotting simple details. The puzzles themselves aren’t all that tough, some are rather easy to solve if you’ve got a creative dark side.
A really good teaser for what’s about to come
Bad Dream: Bridge is just one episode that belongs to a bigger game, Bad Dream: Bridge. To which I’m kind of looking forward to. It’s kind of tough to make a good point and click horror game with so little, but this one got it right.
