Try to imagine a day without bread (for those who eat bread). Now, try to imagine a slice of bread that has just been gifted with consciousness. What does it do? Does it run for its new found life or does it emotionally collapse under the pressure of being a sentient slice of bread?
All of that and more are answered in this mini visual novel that features excellent narration and quality whimsical humor. The game explores the options and choices a slice of bread could have if it suddenly came to life. To not give away any of the plot twists, but know that A Day in the Life of a Slice of Bread explores the idea of gay marriage, bread suicide, breaking physics to create wormholes and killing everyone on the planet. Yep, this game’s story is all over the place, and it’s delightful.

A game about bread that’s a bit too short for my taste

I just had to throw in an attempt at a bad bread related pun. The ultimate one is in the game. As far as the gameplay goes, it’s as simple as clicking the choices that pop up on the screen and seeing what follows until new ones appear.
A Day in the Life of a Slice of Bread has some great humor in it and quality-wise, it’s borderline flawless. However, it’s very short, too short. More content would have made it so much better. Maybe sometime along the way, extra choices will be added but until then, it’s more of a mini-game, a teaser of better things to come. Nonetheless, it’s still going to offer a fun couple of minutes.
