Description
Zombies are easy to integrate into almost every scenario, especially when it comes to video games. Whether it’s a first-person shooter set in modern times or a classic RPG taking place in the usual D&D world, the undead can be part of the menu in any situation. Thus, it’s no wonder that there are hundreds of games to choose from if you want to slaughter some mindless husks.
Make it to the end of the level alive
8Bit Zombie Rush is a 2D platformer in which the only goal is survival, but it takes a bit of effort to come out alive from all the commotion. In essence, the game doesn’t differ all that much from a classic jump & run, except for the fact that zombies spawn around you at all times. Hence, sometimes it’s easier to just make a run for it and hope for the best.
You can use your weapon to shoot down the zombies, but the firing rate is very slow, and the undead are fairly quick. In addition, each creature requires multiple shots in order to be killed, and you do not have that luxury. In fact, it’s quite frustrating to play the game as intended, since there’s no way you can handle all the zombies if you were to shoot them one-by-one.
Simple graphics and even simpler controls
Each level looks a bit different, but there are no major differences in this regard. Sometimes you can find power-ups that upgrade your powers for a short time, but then again, you rarely have the option to stand and fight. In addition, the movement feels a bit too twitchy, making it difficult to perform precise jumps sometimes, which is not good news in a platformer.
As for the graphics, they are true to the game’s name, because they are certainly 8-bit. The environments look pretty neat, even if they are repetitive. On the other hand, there is a small problem with the whole thing, which is that you may have trouble seeing your character. The tiny resolution coupled with the small size of the character can give you a lot of headaches, especially during certain sections.
A quick dose of fun and adrenaline
In the end, 8Bit Zombie Rush has plenty of flaws, which makes it difficult to enjoy over long periods of time. However, the challenge can keep you motivated for a while, depending on how persistent and stubborn you are.
