Description
Texas Holdem Video Poker is a simple poker simulation that provides no challenge and no real interaction with other players.
Many of the poker games that are free and that seem to provide some sort of entertainment or AI interaction are just a front for an online service. The same can be said about Texas Holdem Video Poker, which is exactly that. It’s a free game that give users an incentive to play online for real money.
Interestingly enough, it doesn’t also trick the users into thinking that they are much better than in real life. It would have been really simple to change the application so that the user wins a lot. Maybe he thinks that he’s really good, when in fact it was just the application. For the most part, choices made by players in this game turn out to be wrong.
When 7 and 2 are winners, it’s time to move on
Even if the game is called Texas Holdem Video Poker, it’s not actually played as such. Yes, it follows the poker rules, but you’re not facing any opponents. In fact, you’re just presented with five hands of cards and the “flopâ€.
Each hand has a probabilistic value assigned to it and the player only has to choose what he thinks it’s the best one. Choosing the one with the highest value rarely provides a good outcome, and there are no more moves.
You start with a budget of $2500 and you can set the value of the bet right from the start. You can lose it all in one hand, if you really want to.
Given that there are no stakes and that you don’t really play against other players, or eve an AI, this is more like a simulation than anything else. In fact, the players just seem to be along for the ride. Picking some percentage is not the definition of fun. Texas Holdem Video Poker is just a front for the casino behind it, but it’s nice to see that they managed to keep it real. I lost two hands in a row against a 7 and 2, so there might be some truth to it.
