Description
Even if people have played it to death in the last few hundred years, chess still has many secrets and situations we haven’t stumbled onto yet. The number of possible moves is just too great for matches to become repetitive, which is why it will probably remain a popular game for a very long time. However, you may not always find an opponent willing to enjoy a match with you.
Challenge the computer whenever you feel like it
Natwarlal is a chess opponent algorithm designed to provide you with a challenge and put your strategies to the test. The application itself uses Winboard as a basis, which means that only the AI is original. However, having an opponent to match your skills is certainly the important part, because there are thousands of chess engines out there that function just as well as this one.
Speaking of which, the application itself is packed with options and features, which makes it easy to customize your experience. You can save and load games if you do not have the time to finish the match in one sitting, as well as store the position of each piece and load it with a simple click whenever you need to. Entire games can be copied to the clipboard, which means that you are basically free to export and save the matches in any format you want.
Undo moves and analyze your matches
There are a few other options at your disposal as well, such as the fact that you can pit two machines against each other and watch them duke it out on the board. Furthermore, it is also possible to enter the analysis mode and view a detailed rundown of your match, in order to see where everything went wrong. You are always free to undo moves and edit the entire board as well, in case you want to simulate certain situations.
As far as the interface and the visual aspect are concerned, the application is extremely simple to use and customize, thanks to the intuitive menu. The board itself can be customized with a variety of colors and themes, not to mention the fact that its size is adjustable as well. On the other hand, the engine is still in two dimensions, so there’s only so much you can do.
A worthy opponent for every chess enthusiast
All things considered, Natwarlal can provide anyone with a challenge, regardless of your experience with the game. However, beginners might have a hard time beating the AI, because you cannot change the difficulty level.
